Deze parel wordt geroemd en is al sinds jaar en dag het toevluchtsoord voor de Napolitanen. Leuk om een dagje naar toe te gaan. Veel mensen die de boeken van Elena Ferrente hebben gelezen zullen dit herkennen. Vanuit het haventje van Pozzuoli vertrekken we naar het eiland. Lekker 1,5 uur varen met mooi weer is zeker geen straf. We komen op het eiland op de verkeerde plek aan maar voor we het weten zitten we in de bus naar Ischia Port. Daar vandaan lopen we door het prachtige stadje. Je kunt zien dat het al langer een toeristische bestemming is. Prachtige oude huizen en winkeltjes. Natuurlijk ook toeristische rommeltjes, maar er wordt zeker ook geprobeerd de oude stijl te handhaven. Mooie doorkijkjes, bloemen, kunst en oude en nieuwe reclame borden, scooters. Steeds overal ook weer de zee. We gaan naar het kasteel van Aragon. Prachtig gerestaureerd, zonder dat het kitsch wordt. De tuinen schitterend, vol bomen, cactussen, olijfbomen en goed onderhouden. We zijn er uren zoet mee. Terug van het kasteel moeten we nog een best stuk terug lopen naar de boot. We nemen een taxi en de taxi chauffeur houdt van Napolitaanse muziek. Wij ook natuurlijk, heel bekende nummers die Andr\u00e9 Hazes ook zong of Willy Alberti met Amsterdams Napolitaanse tongval. Het was gezellig in de taxi, al zingend kwamen we bij de goeie haven. Lekker op een strandje gelegen en daarna aan het Italiaanse ijs. Dat is wel smullen hoor.
