Tussen een aantal kanalen is zoveel hoogteverschil dat er geen normale vaarverbinding mogelijk is. Ingenieurs hebben daarom in de 19<sup>e<\/sup>&nbsp;eeuw een verbinding bedacht met spoorlijntjes. De boten varen in een soort stellage die vervolgens met een kabel omhoog of naar beneden wordt getrokken via een spoorlijn. Daarna gaat de boot weer uit de stellage om zelf weer verder te varen. Tien jaar geleden wilden we dit fenomeen ook bekijken, maar toen we het eindelijk gevonden hadden, bleek het \u00e9\u00e9n grote bouwput te zijn. De installatie werd helemaal gerestaureerd. Deze keer vonden we het zo en konden we op een heel gezellig campinkje aan de oever staan, zodat de boten voor onze neus heen en weer gingen. De helling wordt bediend door een man in een groen hokje, die de kabel in werking zet als er iemand op de gong van de stellage klingelt.
